The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) conducts the Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) Examination to recruit qualified law graduates for prosecution departments across the state.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a university or institution recognized by the Bar Council of India. Proficiency in Hindi (Devanagari script) is also mandatory.
Generally between 21 to 42 years. Upper-age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC and EWS as per Uttarakhand government rules.
The recruitment process consists of three consecutive stages:
Objective / Multiple-Choice type examination serving as the screening stage.
Subjective / descriptive written examination.
Personality test to assess overall suitability.

Covers major criminal laws and local acts, including Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, and the Uttarakhand Police Act.
General Studies paper covering relevant topics as prescribed for the examination.
Covers grammar, essay writing, precis, translation, and administrative drafting.
Criminal Law & Procedure with Police Act.
Evidence Act.
